Supersuckers Interview
GB: Do you have a personal favourite among your albums?
"Tasty Greens", because I LOVE spinach!
GB: Your love of country music has been well documented. Which country
Artists would you recommend to a mostly rock audience? Gram Parsons? Johnny Cash?
Definitely Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson. That is all you gotta know.
GB: We know that you are Ozzy Osbourne fans (EddieΉ s tattoo is a dead
giveaway). How come you Œve never covered one of his songs?
Well... because they are not that good.
GB:How did you end up collaborating with Willie Nelson and Steve Earle?
They wanted the best and they got the best!
GB: Do you still like your drugs (see I want the drugs etc.)?
No. I like other people's drugs.
GB: The band has been involved with the notorious West Memphis 3 case and Eddie Spaghetti has produced a benefit album about it (Free the West Memphis 3, featuring Joe Strummer, Tom Waits, Steve Earle, etc.). Could you explain the situation for those who are not familiar with the facts?
Go to this website and learn it. It's worth the effort - wm3.org
GB: Does the band have a specific political stance? Would it be accurate to say that most of your material has a rather leftist bend (even the country songs are often of the outlaw variety- Woody Guthrie style)?
We are as political as any one american should be. Do we support our
president? Hell no. Do we want to talk politics? Hell no.
GB:Will there be more Eddie Spaghetti solo albums (after The Sauce and Old no 2)?
Hell yes.
GB:Any thoughts on why rock ŒnΉ roll records are not commercially successful these days?
Because people are notoriously dumb in big groups.
GB: Do you guys still do the full Supersuckers experience for your concerts (Eddie Spaghetti solo material, plus country covers and then the main part of the show, with Supersuckers classics)? We have laid that package down for now. It's still a possibility for the future.
GB: Any luck in finding a new drummer? Will Scott Churilla (Reverend Horton Heat) go back to his band after your January dates?
Man, I hope not.
GB: Any plans for a European tour? And will there be a new Supersuckers
album in 2006?
No Europe plans yet. It is all about the record this year. Thanks for the interest in our little band.
Eddie
